Le Gallopin

From over the magnificent solid mahogany bar, more than a century of cocktails looks down on us! First opened in 1879 behind the Bourse (stock exchange) by Monsieur Gallopin, who also invented a measure of beer that still bears his name, this bar was the first in the French capital to serve "mixed drinks." It has come back to life now in a sumptuous reincarnation with a glass roof that dates back to the Universal Exposition. The superbly crafted cocktails are concocted using ingredients from France's terroir. It's also possible to order a bottle of old-school Gallic apéritifs (Gentiane, Amer Picon) in their 40s-50s iteration. Vive le Gallopin! Vive la France!
